Taking The First Step!

Taking the first step in making changes in your life?

Most of us have said to ourselves in the last few days....What New Years Resolutions will I make this year?

Hmm...some of us have done this so many times we don't realize that we have made the same list every year and have experienced the same failures.

My suggestion is do not make a list of what you want to change this year....no...instead make a list of what your resolutions were for last year, the year before that... and the year before that...i.e the last three years.

Are there any similarities?  If so make a list of anything that appears on all three lists.  This will be the list for this year.

  1.  Look at the new list...are you surprised?
  2. If you are surprised...then spend a few minutes reflecting and getting to know yourself...this sounds silly but it is worthwhile as you have been trying to tell your inner self something for a while.  Perhaps its time you listened.
  3. If you are not surprised...look again and ask yourself why do you keep putting this item/s on the list, what is it that you are trying to tell yourself.   And furthermore why have you failed to keep the resolution?.

Once you have tried this activity, you may be surprised what is in your list and what is not on your list.

New Years resolutions is a way of drawing a line under the past and saying to oneself what can I do better this year, how can I change?

Sometimes we can make the changes we want without assistance, but in a lot of cases we need a little help in looking at ourselves and getting some support to help us understand the changes we want to make...and most importantly why?
